John Patrick Hackett, who was born and raised in New York City, creates work shaped by his surroundings and influenced by contemporary art and pop culture. He received a bachelor’s degree from Binghamton University, with a focus in historical painting. While at school he explored ideas of longevity in art and worked towards classical painting practices. JP currently lives and works in New York, practicing with other local artists and experimenting with new mediums. His practice emphasizes a unique style combining street art, illustration, and painting, while at the same time exploring connections between fine and subcultural expression. JP strives to apply the New York post-modern aesthetic to his work, following in the steps of some of the city’s most renowned artists. His work has been shown in the annex of the MOMA, along with various galleries in Williamsburg, DUMBO, and the East Village.
